Respiratory, urinary tract, skin, soft tissue, oral cavity, bronchopneumonia, and pneumonia infections
Description
Vifax Bid tablets and powder for oral suspension is a combination of a semi-synthetic antibiotic (Amoxicillin) and a beta-lactamase inhibitor (Clavulanic acid). Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic antibiotic derived from penicillin. It acts against a wide spectrum of microorganisms, both Gram-positive and Gram-negative. Clavulanic acid is an enzyme inhibitor of beta-lactamases (enzymes generated by bacteria that interact with antibiotics to break them down) in antibiotic-resistant bacteria. It works by preventing bacteria from destroying amoxicillin.
Indications:
Vifax Bid is indicated for bacterial infections when caused by organisms sensitive to amoxicillin and clavulanic acid:
- Infections of the upper respiratory tract, caused by beta-lactamase-producing strains: H. influenzae and M. (Branhamella) catarrhalis.
- Acute otitis media, caused by beta-lactamase producing strains: H. influenzae, and M. catarrhalis.
- Sinusitis, caused by the beta-lactamase producing strains: H. influenzae, M. catarrhalis and S. pneumoniae.
- Skin and soft tissue infections, caused by the beta-lactamase producing strains: S. aureus, E. coli and Klebsiella spp.
